December 3, 2025 — A Book Barn is closing out the year with a full slate of book signings, community activities, and holiday festivities, offering readers and families several chances to meet local and regional creators throughout December.

The month begins with a visit from E.J. Albert on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 1–3 p.m. Albert, author of “The Absolute Path: A Spiritual Guide to Eternal Fulfilment Edge,” will be on hand to discuss his work, which blends Eastern and Western approaches to mindfulness, stillness, and personal growth. His book encourages readers to pursue lasting transformation through lived spiritual practice.

On Saturday, Dec. 13, A Book Barn will host back-to-back author signings.

From 1–3 p.m., retired Fresno Police Department lieutenant Thomas Laband will sign copies of his crime-mystery series “Killing Time in Tollhouse,” “Killing Time in Auberry,” and “Killing Time in Friant.” Laband’s 39-year law enforcement career included leading the Crisis Negotiation Team and overseeing several major bureaus within the Fresno Police Department. His books, rooted in his deep criminology background, explore rural suspense through a Central Valley lens.

Immediately following, from 2–4 p.m., survivor-turned-author Larry Park will appear to sign his memoir, “The Chowchilla Kidnapping: Why Me?” Park was six years old when he and 25 other schoolchildren were kidnapped in 1976, taken from their bus, transported to a quarry, and buried alive in a moving van. His book recounts the harrowing hours that followed, the miraculous escape led by two older children, and his lifelong journey toward healing. Park’s appearance is expected to draw strong community interest given the case’s enduring place in California history.

The month will conclude with a festive weekend on Saturday, Dec. 20, featuring two special attractions:
— Christmas Artists Fair, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
— Fossil Saturday, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.

Families can also enjoy Storytime with Mrs. Claus from 10–11 a.m., adding a dose of holiday magic for young readers.

All events will be held at A Book Barn, 640 Clovis Ave., Clovis, CA 93612.
