California State Senator Andreas Borgeas (R-Fresno) was appointed to a new bipartisan Senate Special Committee on California’s Emergency Pandemic Response.
The committee, composed of 11 bipartisan senators, is responsible for reviewing the state’s response to the COVID-19 crisis. The committee will make findings and recommendations for how the state should respond if the coronavirus returns later this year, or if another pandemic occurs in the future.
“We want to make sure we properly evaluate lessons we are learning from this still evolving event as well as ensure the state of California is prepared for future pandemic emergencies,” Borgeas said in a statement. “The Legislature took decisive action to ensure that California was well-equipped to flatten the COVID-19 curve. I am honored to represent the Central Valley, mountain and foothill communities as a member of this committee to ensure that we are dedicating resources to our most vulnerable areas.”
The special committee will be chaired by Senator Lena A. Gonzalez (D-Long Beach), and includes Senators Patricia C. Bates (R-Laguna Niguel), Anna M. Caballero (D-Salinas), Bill Dodd (D-Yolo), Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbra), Mike McGuire (D-Healdsburg), Richard Pan (D-Sacramento), Thomas J. Umberg (D-Santa Ana), Scott D. Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Brian Jones (R-Santee).
