October 10, 2025 — The Department of Motor Vehicles office in Clovis will temporarily close its doors this week for building renovations, according to state officials.
The closure begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, with the first full day of closure set for Sunday, Oct. 13. The office is expected to reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
During the temporary shutdown, crews will be repairing flooring, ceiling tiles, and windows, while also giving the parking lot a fresh repair and restriping. Officials say the updates are necessary to maintain safety and improve the overall experience for customers visiting the Clovis DMV.
While the office is closed, residents are encouraged to complete transactions online at dmv.ca.gov or visit nearby DMV offices, including:
-
Fresno North DMV – 6420 N. Blackstone Ave. (approximately 8 miles from Clovis)
-
Fresno DMV – 655 W. Olive Ave. (13 miles from Clovis)
-
Reedley DMV – 1890 E. Dinuba Ave. (28 miles from Clovis)
-
Madera DMV – 1206 Maple St. (33 miles from Clovis)
Though the closure may cause some temporary inconvenience, state officials say the renovations are part of ongoing efforts to ensure DMV offices across the Central Valley remain accessible, efficient, and well-maintained for years to come.
