April 16, 2025 — The Clovis High School Chamber Ensemble is preparing for a once-in-a-lifetime performance on one of the world’s most iconic stages. On Saturday, May 24, the ensemble will take part in a choral music evening at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
The event is part of MidAmerica Productions’ 42nd concert season and will feature the Clovis High singers under the direction of Tamara Spurgeon. They will perform alongside the acclaimed New England Symphonic Ensemble, led by Artistic Director Preston Hawes.
The program includes the Carnegie Hall premiere of A Cloud of Witnesses, composed and conducted by Mack Wilberg, Music Director of the Tabernacle Choir. Wilberg’s arrangements of Deep River and Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing will also be performed during the concert.
Joining Clovis High on stage will be the Winthrop University Chorale from Rock Hill, South Carolina, directed by Jeremy Mims. The collaborative performance highlights the level of excellence achieved by both student ensembles.
The Clovis High Chamber Ensemble will spend five days and four nights in New York City. In addition to exploring the city, the students will dedicate nine to ten hours to rehearsals in preparation for the performance.
The invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall reflects the dedication and talent of the students and their director. Their upcoming appearance stands as a proud moment for Clovis Unified and the broader Clovis community, showcasing local talent on an international stage.
