Join us on a fun, exciting adventure! River Buddies Weekend Explorers takes your child on a journey like no other. As they adopt their new role of explorer, your child will go on a nature walk along the Hidden Homes Trail, sing fun and exciting songs, listen to a story about that day’s program theme, and participate in both a craft and hands on activity that are educational and fun! Your child will learn all about the local environment and animals that reside with us here at the River Center.
This adventure requires your child to be between the ages of 3 ½ to 6. Please note that there is a $7.00 fee per child. You can pay online when registering or in person the day of the trip by cash or check. We will be meeting at the Picnic Area at the River Center (11605 Old Friant Rd, Fresno.) The program commences at 9:00 am, so be sure to arrive in time to check in and make your payment if you have not already done so. Please be sure to dress your child in clothing suitable for a morning outside, such as long pants, closed-toe shoes, etc. We invite you to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on site after the program is completed.
Bud Buddies program theme includes:
- Hidden Homes Nature Trail: observe the many plants and animals that live on site and visit several larger-than-life animal homes along the way.
- Insect Safari: collect insects with nets and bug catchers to observe, identify, discuss, and then release.
- Boogie Like a Bug: dress up like an insect with wings, glasses, and antennae.
- Song and Story Time: learn what makes something an insect, then sing a song describing an insect’s body parts.
- Build a Bug Craft: create your own butterflies and bugs with various art supplies.
