October 6, 2025 — On the morning of Saturday, October 4, Gettysburg Elementary School came alive with the roar of engines, the gleam of polished chrome, and the laughter of families enjoying a beautiful fall day. The second annual Gettysburg Elementary Car Show, hosted by the school’s Parent-Teacher Club (PTC), drew a crowd of hundreds and nearly 75 vehicles, surpassing last year’s turnout both in participants and attendees.

Rachel Eslick, PTC president and parent of a second grader at Gettysburg, described the effort behind the event as a true community collaboration. “It took a lot of effort from our board of five, plus as much help as we could get from other parents and car enthusiasts,” Eslick said. “We learned from last year and wanted to make this one bigger and better—and it definitely exceeded expectations.”

From classic cars to modern marvels, attendees enjoyed a wide array of vehicles, including several brought by Eslick’s own family. A panel of five experienced judges assessed the cars for awards, while kids participated in a scavenger hunt that included voting for their favorite car, a 2023 Corvette received the popular vote.

In addition to the automotive displays, the event featured family-friendly attractions such as a bounce house and student-run vendor tables selling lemonade and bracelets, as well as sponsorship booths. Every dollar raised went directly back to Gettysburg Elementary, funding programs and resources for students and teachers through the nonprofit PTC.

“What makes Clovis car shows special is just that Americana feeling,” Eslick said. “The sound of the engines, the bright colors—it’s a chance to step back, enjoy simple pleasures, and spend quality time as a family.”

With strong turnout and positive feedback, the PTC hopes the Gettysburg Elementary Car Show will continue to grow. “We hope the community puts this on their calendar for next year, whether to show a car or just enjoy the morning with family,” Eslick said.
