The heart of Old Town was filled with smiles thanks samples of items with one of the Central Valley’s most abundant crop as the main ingredient.
The annual Peach Party sponsored by Wawona Frozen Foods was held Friday, July 14, joining the weekly-evening farmer’s market.
Savory items were provided by the culinary school at Institute of Technology. A fresh-peach chopped salsa with homemade chips and a grilled chicken sauteed in a special habanero and peach drizzle left locals both impressed and intrigued by how tasty a savory item with peach could be.
The fresh-peach chopped salsa had an excellent touch of sweetness without overpowering the savoriness of the salsa. IT also served samples of a peach combo bar, a sweet layered bar that tasted like a soft-bread like version of pie.
Wawona Frozen Foods offered samples of a variety of frozen sliced peaches along with samples of baked peach jewels, a crispy miniature pie with the perfect amount of peach filling and sugar crystals.
