Officers were dispatched shortly before 1 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, to the area of Barstow Avenue and State Route 168. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male on a canal south of Barstow Avenue, between Peach and Willow avenues, suffering from severe injuries.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Detectives and crime scene personnel responded overnight and continued investigating throughout the day. Police are now asking for help from anyone who may have information related to the incident.
Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with residents or businesses in the area who may have security cameras, as well as anyone who was in the vicinity between midnight and 1 a.m.
A suspect arrested in this case faces felony aggravated battery at this time, and this remains an open investigation. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
