Beginning April 2, Save Mart Supermarkets and its daughter grocery chains will dedicate store hours in California and northern Nevada to first responders.
First responders, defined as law enforcement, fire officials and medical personnel, can now shop at Save Mart, FoodMaxx and Lucky grocery store locations one hour before and one hour after posted store hours every day of the week.
The company said the decision was made to thank first responders for their assistance in the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
“We want to give thanks to the dedicated, hardworking first responders throughout all our communities working the front lines during these extraordinary times,” said Hal Levitt, Save Mart Companies’ Senior Vice President of Retail Operations. “Medical, law and fire personnel are putting their lives on the line during this pandemic and we want to thank them and make their lives a little easier by extending these special dedicated shopping hours to them.”
The company previously dedicated store hours to seniors and population who are vulnerable to COVID-19. One Tuesdays and Thursdays, seniors and vulnerable populations have shopping priority at Save Mart from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and at FoodMaxx and Lucky stores from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Save Mart Companies own three grocery stores in Clovis, which include two Save Mart locations and one FoodMaxx location.
