May 9, 2025 — Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Caleb Quick outside a McDonald’s restaurant in Clovis last month, authorities confirmed Friday.
The fatal shooting occurred on the night of April 23 in the parking lot of the McDonald’s located at Willow and Nees avenues. Quick had reportedly spent the day at the Clovis Rodeo before meeting friends at the fast-food restaurant when he was shot and killed.
According to investigators, surveillance footage showed the suspected shooter waiting near the restaurant for approximately 13 minutes before approaching Quick and opening fire. The suspect then fled the scene in a white Tesla, which police believe was used as the getaway vehicle.
On Tuesday, Clovis police located and seized the Tesla at a residence in the city. A 16-year-old girl was questioned at the home that day and later released.
Days later, a male juvenile was turned over to Clovis police by his attorney around 3:30 p.m. Friday. He was arrested on murder charges. A female juvenile was also handed over to police, though the nature of the charges against her has not yet been disclosed.
A motive for the shooting remains unknown, and investigators continue to piece together details of the case.
Clovis police are expected to provide additional information during a scheduled press conference on Saturday.
