August 2, 2025 — Families in Clovis now have a new destination for safe, creative, and inclusive play. Inclusive Kids Play Studio officially opened its doors Saturday morning, August 2, with a grand opening celebration that swapped the traditional ribbon cutting for a symbolic “ribbon untying” — a gesture emphasizing safety for children and sustainability.
Located at 30 W. Shaw Ave., Suite 111, the Play Studio was designed for children ages 0–5 by early childhood experts to encourage development through play. Founder and CEO Dr. Monica Peterson, who has more than 15 years of experience in education and special education leadership, expressed her excitement about the turnout.
“It’s great seeing so many families out here today. We’re thrilled,” Peterson said as parents and children explored the new space.
The celebration brought together community members along with sponsors and local vendors, including Sarah Croker Photography, Ryan Mead Media, Best Day Ever Photobooth, Abbie’s Face Paint, Divine Coffee Co., Chill Cart Slushy Rental, Kari’s Aguas Frescas, and Handmade Playroom, which offered handcrafted toys and products. Guests enjoyed complimentary refreshments, activities, and a first look at the studio.
Inside, families found a variety of thoughtfully designed play areas, including a giant ball pit, toddler-friendly slides, climbing structures, a block-building zone, art and science stations, and sensory play spaces that include costumes and immersive activities — all built to support gross motor, cognitive, and social-emotional growth. Abbie provided free face painting inside, and the Best Day Ever photobooth was set up with a beautiful backdrop for parents to capture memories with their little ones.
Peterson credited her team, including Programs Director Elisabed Gonzalez and Director of Play Katie Wilder, for their work in creating a space that supports children of all abilities. “These are the people who make everything better. No matter what I give them, they make it better,” she said with more than a tinge of pride. Wilder’s background in inclusive preschool education and sensory-based learning helped shape many of the studio’s features.
Monica heaped praise onto the rest of the Inclusive Kids staff, stating lovingly that “they are the reason why we can make such a big impact.”
In addition to open play, Inclusive Kids Play Studio offers curated children’s classes, parent workshops in English and Spanish, and inclusive community playgroups. The organization also provides Early Intervention services for children from birth to age three who have or are at risk for developmental delays, free for eligible families through the Central Valley Regional Center.
Daily admission is $16 for the first child and $12 for each additional child. Hours are Monday 8 AM–2 PM, Tuesday through Friday 8 AM–4 PM, Saturday 8 AM–2 PM, and closed Sunday.
